Robot MINA Security Interface (2023 Fall)
The Challenge
The NIC developed “MINA,” a smart indoor robot that can navigate and learn in environments with moving obstacles and people. Although the robot was capable, its web-based control interface lacked security, leaving it vulnerable to unauthorized access.
Our Solution
Students built a secure and user-friendly web interface using the Django framework. The platform features a robust login system with password hashing and a database that manages distinct privileges for guests, regular users, and admins.
How It Works
The new interface allows operators to manage the robot’s tasks directly from a tablet or smartphone without needing a laptop. This makes the robot much more practical for field use in various indoor settings across Nepal.
The Outcome
This security layer ensures that only authorized personnel can control MINA’s navigation and navigation skills. By making the interface safer and more accessible, the project supports the deployment of innovative robotics in Nepal.
